Hotel or apart hotel
Bakirkoy Serviced Apartment or Hotel? A Fair Comparison
If you are staying in Bakırköy for more than two or three nights, want to cook your own food, or your party is larger than three, an apart hotel is usually the better deal. If you only need a bed for a night before moving on and have no use for a kitchen, a classic hotel does the job — the decision comes down to how long you are staying, how many of you there are and how you want to spend your days.
An apart hotel combines a hotel-standard stay with an apartment that has its own kitchen. That is how our apartments in Zeytinlik work: Studio apartment (1+0), One-bedroom apartment (1+1) and Two-bedroom apartment (2+1). Below we compare the two options and set out the apartment's advantages, without overselling them.
At a glance
| Criterion | Classic hotel | Apart hotel (our apartments) |
|---|---|---|
| Living space | Usually a single room | One room in the Studio apartment (1+0); a separate bedroom and living room in the One-bedroom (1+1) and Two-bedroom (2+1) apartments |
| Kitchen | Usually none | A kitchen in every apartment |
| 4–5 guests | Often more than one room | All in one apartment in the Two-bedroom apartment (2+1) |
| Meals | Out, or whatever the hotel offers | Cook in the apartment, or eat around the square 6 minutes away |
| Building | Varies by hotel | Lift and security cameras |
| Booking | Varies by hotel | Phone or WhatsApp, written confirmation |
Location matters in both cases. Our apartments are 8 minutes on foot from Marmaray Bakırköy station and 6 minutes from Bakırköy Freedom Square (Özgürlük Meydanı).
Five advantages of an apart hotel
- Your own kitchen. You make your own breakfast, your child's meal, or a light dinner at the end of a long day. For anyone on a particular diet, that is a real convenience.
- A separate bedroom and living room. In the One-bedroom apartment (1+1), one person can sleep while the other works or takes a call in the living room. Sleep and work do not share a single room.
- A large group in one apartment. With its two bedrooms, the Two-bedroom apartment (2+1) brings 4–5 people together in one place. As a family or a team you plan in the same living room instead of meeting in the corridor.
- Comfort when a stay gets longer. On a trip that arrives for three nights and stretches to two weeks, days feel easier with a routine close to your own at home.
- A building with a lift and security cameras. Arriving with suitcases, a pushchair or an older relative, you ride up to your floor.
When a hotel is enough
To keep the comparison honest, here is when a classic hotel makes sense:
- A one-night stopover. If you arrive at night and leave early in the morning, the gap between the two options narrows. For such short stays the Studio apartment (1+0) is a practical choice too.
- You want services inside the building. If you prefer to take meals and similar services from the building, a hotel that provides them may suit you better.
- You will never use the kitchen. If you plan to eat out for every meal, you would not be using the apartment's strongest feature.
At an apart hotel you either make breakfast in the apartment or eat around the square 6 minutes away, where cafés and restaurants gather. For late arrivals we plan your check-in together in advance; just let us know your arrival time.
Which apartment suits whom
| Your situation | Apartment that fits |
|---|---|
| A solo business trip | Studio apartment (1+0) |
| A couple or two colleagues | Studio apartment (1+0) or One-bedroom apartment (1+1) |
| Anyone working in the apartment in the evening | One-bedroom apartment (1+1) |
| A family or group of three | One-bedroom apartment (1+1) |
| A family, group of friends or team of 4–5 | Two-bedroom apartment (2+1) |
Every apartment has a kitchen, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi; hot water runs 24/7 and cleaning is done regularly. Details are on the apartments page.
Four questions before you decide
- How many nights? For one or two nights either option works; past three nights you feel the difference a kitchen and separate rooms make.
- How many of you? 1–2 people: Studio apartment (1+0). 2–3 people: One-bedroom apartment (1+1). 4–5 people: Two-bedroom apartment (2+1).
- Will you cook? If yes, the apart hotel. If you plan to eat out, we describe the neighbourhood options in our breakfast and dinner guide.
- How much time will you spend inside? If you work in the evenings or rest with children during the day, the One-bedroom (1+1) or Two-bedroom (2+1) apartment, with its living room, gives you more breathing room.
Two situations we see often
The business trip that runs long: arriving for three nights and staying for a two-week project is common. If your stay looks like it will extend, tell us early; depending on availability we plan to keep you in the same apartment or move you to a larger one.
Family and work in one trip: if one person leaves for work while the others explore the city, a One-bedroom (1+1) or Two-bedroom (2+1) apartment with a separate bedroom is easier, so the early riser does not wake the rest.
Price and availability
We give you the current price straight away on the phone or on WhatsApp; it depends on the dates, the length of stay and the apartment type. You can ask about more than one apartment type for the same dates in a single conversation and decide after seeing them side by side. The booking is confirmed by written message.
